Rose of the Winds Spread & Personal Entry

It's been a long time! I have been preparing for a big move, along with dealing with pretty intense panic attacks from my accident a few months ago. I have not picked up a deck in a long time, but I bought the Modern Witch Tarot Journal by Lisa Sterle and needed to do a spread.  This spread is in the book. I could not find a picture to post from the internet. This spread is all about finding the source of different things. I looked at each of the cards before writing down important keywords. My view has changed with a few of them, although I'm not sure if it's the progress of learning or if it's some kind of new intuition that has grown recently. (1) Source of Strength 3 of Cups: Even though friendship is not a strength OF mine, I see now that it can be a strength FOR me. It's one of my goals for this new start. (3) Source of Nourishment 6 of Pentacles: I used to see the card as people begging and the person giving giving them gifts out of pity. Now, though, I see

New Free Worksheet - Word Association

To help with getting my intuition into a more trustworthy spot (as my anxiety makes it difficult), I have started to do quick-fire word association with the cards. This exercise was suggested by Theresa Reed (TheTarotLady) in one of her books. I made a worksheet that you can download!  The major arcana have a section of their own, and the minor arcana are separated to make it more organized and easier to read. I have done it a few times, and I will post about the outcome soon. One way I am going to record my progress is to list the words I have associated with each of the cards and compare them. If you have trouble accessing and downloading the worksheet, please let me know! Positive vibes to everyone! Tabitha

4/23/23 - (late) Birthday Spread [ PART 2 ]

The second half of my birthday spread reflection! Last past was about what was inside of me and what it looks like for the next year. This post is about the outside aspects of my life and what it may look like for the next year. ( find part one here ) I am using the Emerald Lotus Divination spread for this reflection. The cards are usually in a line, but to get them all into the shot without it being to far away, I had to make two lines. Family: NINE OF SWORDS → mental stress, insomnia, worry, guilt, anguish This card with this intention makes me sad and nervous, which kind of is the heart of the card, huh? I've never had the best relationship with most of my family. I've cut off a lot of my family, and only speak to my mother and (maternal) grandmother once a month or so. It makes me worried about their health (which isn't great to begin with), but it also makes me worried about the feelings of my estranged siblings and father. Maybe I should do a whole journal entry abo

4/23/23 - (late) Birthday Spread [ PART 1 ]

Posting this a week later, not only because I haven't had time but I also wanted to get a fresh look at the cards. When I did the reading, I was in Salt Lake City, Utah, doing some pre-moving adult things, so my mind was more focused on that. Now, though, I have the time to sit and think about the cards' message for my 34th birthday. I used the spread from Emerald Lotus Divination because it seemed to be one of the more in-depth spreads I found. I will be doing the introspective portion differently than my usual posts - one for the top, then another for the bottom. Something from last year I need to let go of: FIVE OF CUPS loss, grief, depression, emotional problems, regret Card to represent this upcoming year in my life: SIX OF CUPS nostalgia, goodwill, community, family matters, childhood, innocence Something new to look forward to this year: TEN OF PENTACLES affluence, magic, community, parties, protection, stability A new hobby/interest I should explore: TWO OF SWORDS tuni

Deck Interview: Modern Witch Tarot Deck

How/Why I Got It This deck has been all over my research and blogs for the last few months. It's been on my wishlist for a long while, and I prefer this over the RWS. I like the modern art that incorporates symbolic meaning for all cards. This is my first deck without the minor arcana cards being 'pip' cards. (Which is a term I recently started to understand.) Artwork The art is done by Lisa Sterle , who also does a lot of comic book art. I love the diversity in the people depected. I also like how it's easy to see what message the card may be trying to convey through the artwork. I like that it's similar to the RWS, which is the standard beginners deck (which I have never touched).  Interview Spread Questions I asked the cards to get to know them. I put the cards in ordered, then shuffled them until it felt right. What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What readings do you prefer? What message to you have for me? What

Happy Saturday!

Just a quick check-in! No newsletter this week, but it will be back April 30th. I bought a new deck, so look forward to a new deck interview post. I've also decided on the next One Card Study focus: The Star. I've had it come up a lot as myself or the person I want to be when I do personal readings. I suppose it's a sign in some ways, right?  I will be back in town on the 24th, so hopefully a new post will be up that day. In the meantime... Positive vibes to everyone! Tabitha

4/18/23 - Travel Spread by Sage's Lantern

I was surprised at how this spread turned out, mostly because of the reversals. As I shuffled to get ready to pull the cards,  the Hierophant  jumped to the floor out of nowhere, so of course that was the first spot. During my continued shuffling, I must have turned the deck upside down. It's weird for me to get reversals as I make sure my cards are all in the same order before shuffling and pulling. I don't actively try to avoid reversals (subconsciously may be another story), so I was shocked when I looked at the spread. I had to stop myself from turning them around because I didn't want to miss an important message they may be trying to tell me. Ultimate Travel Spread by Sage's Lantern What will I experience from my trip? What do I need to look out for during my trip? What can I do make my trip as pleasant as possible? We are going on a weekend trip to Salt Lake City to do some job interviews and apartment hunting this weekend. My anxiety is extremely high and negati
