Deck Interview: Modern Witch Tarot Deck

How/Why I Got It This deck has been all over my research and blogs for the last few months. It's been on my wishlist for a long while, and I prefer this over the RWS. I like the modern art that incorporates symbolic meaning for all cards. This is my first deck without the minor arcana cards being 'pip' cards. (Which is a term I recently started to understand.) Artwork The art is done by Lisa Sterle , who also does a lot of comic book art. I love the diversity in the people depected. I also like how it's easy to see what message the card may be trying to convey through the artwork. I like that it's similar to the RWS, which is the standard beginners deck (which I have never touched).  Interview Spread Questions I asked the cards to get to know them. I put the cards in ordered, then shuffled them until it felt right. What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What readings do you prefer? What message to you have for me? What...

3/19/23 - Celtic Cross Spread

Before I start a reading, I like to reorder my deck. I do it suit by suit, then the major arcana. I shuffle each tiny stack and then shuffle them together. How do you explain the exact way the card moves through your hands? Not sure, so moving on. At the bottom of this post, I will add the photos of my written notes.   I find it easier to read someone's handwriting then a whole bunch of typed text, personally. I decided to do a Celtic Cross spread for my daily practice reading. I thought about where I am at this moment of my life and the plans I have for my move. I did a general read through with my own intuition, and then opened up No Questions Asked to look up the suggested meanings. Cards Drawn 1. The Hanged Man 2. Temperance 3. Six of Swords 4. King of Pentacles 5. Justice 6. Three of Swords 7. The Star 8. Nine of Swords 9. The Fool 10. Ten of Wands 1st Impressions 5 Major Arcanas (!) - additional spread & reading No cups - emotions are not present, could be good or bad Qu...

Deck Interview: Moon & Stars Deck

How I Got It Nothing special, honestly. I wanted a deck with different art, so I found this online on sale from Barnes and Noble . I've been into the visuals of moon and stars lately, which I'll go into more as I describe the artwork. The booklet was written by Jayne Wallace , and includes affirmations for each card. I don't know much about the author, but it seems she's pretty famous in celebrity circles. Artwork That artwork for this deck is done by Hannah Davies . It's a softer type of art than my other deck, with abstract backgrounds and small details added to the major arcana cards. I like the abstract work and the small details that include constellations or astrology symbols. I bought this deck purely for the artwork and the layout of the cards, including the word displayed. Interview Spread I will be using these questions as I draw and interpret: What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your limits? What kind of readings do you pref...

Deck Interview: Celtic Deck

How I Got It I bought this deck from a Barnes and Noble over a decade ago. I'm not sure if it was before or after I got married, but it's been with me through major events in my life. I'm not sure the reason I kept the deck, but it was always in a black drawstring bag of cheap fabric. I found it a few months ago in the bottom of a storage tub, the bag starting to unravel. I'm not sure this deck is being sold anymore. Artwork Visually, the deck is in line with my tastes. I love the vibrant colors and knotted designs. It reminds me of the art style called Pointillism , which involves using dots of colors to create a whole image. It was created by Courtney Davis in 1989 from what I could find online. The pentacles are depicted by coins and the wands are depicted by staffs. Interview Spread I will be using these questions as I draw and interpret: What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your limits? What kind of readings do you prefer? What messag...
