How/Why I Got It
This deck has been all over my research and blogs for the last few months. It's been on my wishlist for a long while, and I prefer this over the RWS. I like the modern art that incorporates symbolic meaning for all cards. This is my first deck without the minor arcana cards being 'pip' cards. (Which is a term I recently started to understand.)
Artwork
The art is done by Lisa Sterle, who also does a lot of comic book art. I love the diversity in the people depected. I also like how it's easy to see what message the card may be trying to convey through the artwork. I like that it's similar to the RWS, which is the standard beginners deck (which I have never touched).
Interview Spread
Questions I asked the cards to get to know them. I put the cards in ordered, then shuffled them until it felt right.
- What kind of energy do you have?
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- What readings do you prefer?
- What message to you have for me?
What's your energy? - King Of Wands
creative mastery, bold leadership, inspirational thought leader, charisma, masculine
What's your strengths? - The World
chapter closing, integration, inclusiveness, worldly success, closure
What's your weaknesses? - Seven of Swords
walking on eggshells, running away from responsibilities, avoiding drama, sneakiness
What readings do you prefer? - The Lovers (reversed)
bad romance, breach of trust, addiction, toxic relationship, poor choices
A message for today? - Queen of Wands
warmth, vitality, creative energy, personal power, protection
Introspection
The energy this deck has given off since I found out about it was creativity, inspiration, and personal power. I'm happy to see the reading saying the same thing. The strengths are about reflection on a chapter that is closing and how to integrate what has happened into the next step. This deck is not good at doing readings connecting to running away or avoiding the issue.
The preferred reading answer is interesting. At first, I thought it was saying that it prefers readings not related to love or relationships, but as I researched the card's potential messages, it seemed to go deeper. Maybe the best readings for this deck could be related to trust and making choices.
The Queen of Wands is a positive card. It reminds me of nature, the sun, and taking that as a sign that the world is protecting me, wanting me to be happy. I'll take it.
<3 Positive vibes to everyone! <3
