Deck Interview: Modern Witch Tarot Deck

How/Why I Got It This deck has been all over my research and blogs for the last few months. It's been on my wishlist for a long while, and I prefer this over the RWS. I like the modern art that incorporates symbolic meaning for all cards. This is my first deck without the minor arcana cards being 'pip' cards. (Which is a term I recently started to understand.) Artwork The art is done by Lisa Sterle , who also does a lot of comic book art. I love the diversity in the people depected. I also like how it's easy to see what message the card may be trying to convey through the artwork. I like that it's similar to the RWS, which is the standard beginners deck (which I have never touched).  Interview Spread Questions I asked the cards to get to know them. I put the cards in ordered, then shuffled them until it felt right. What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What readings do you prefer? What message to you have for me? What

4/18/23 - Travel Spread by Sage's Lantern

I was surprised at how this spread turned out, mostly because of the reversals. As I shuffled to get ready to pull the cards,  the Hierophant  jumped to the floor out of nowhere, so of course that was the first spot. During my continued shuffling, I must have turned the deck upside down. It's weird for me to get reversals as I make sure my cards are all in the same order before shuffling and pulling. I don't actively try to avoid reversals (subconsciously may be another story), so I was shocked when I looked at the spread. I had to stop myself from turning them around because I didn't want to miss an important message they may be trying to tell me. Ultimate Travel Spread by Sage's Lantern What will I experience from my trip? What do I need to look out for during my trip? What can I do make my trip as pleasant as possible? We are going on a weekend trip to Salt Lake City to do some job interviews and apartment hunting this weekend. My anxiety is extremely high and negati

3/29/23 - Toolkit Spread by Evvie Marin

I've had this spread on my 'to do' list for a while now. It's supposed to help you think about different ways to use your strengths in whatever situation you're asking about. I pulled the cards last night, but did not turn them over until this morning. I apologize for the terrible picture quality, my phone wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. The spread is by Evvie Marin from Interrobang Tarot . The visual (and all their work, to be honest) is very pleasing for me to look at. They have some really great spreads, as well. I love their website in relation to tarot! They also are a multimedia artist. TOP SHELF - Tasks To Fix: 10 of Swords exhaustion, something painful, hitting rock bottom To Break: 5 of Pentacles poverty, hardship, insecurity To Measure: 8 of Wands progress, travel plans MIDDLE SHELF - Tools A Talent: Knight of Swords logical, focused, perfectionist, determination A Resource: 10 of Pentacles community A Skill: The High Priestess feminine intuiti

3/25/23 - Chart Your Path Spread

This spread combines the Past/Present/Future spread with the Body/Mind/Spirit  spread. I did this one early afternoon, and I wanted to think about what I wrote and saw before I posted to the blog. A lot of new experiences happened with this reading practice. QUESTION What do I need to know about pursuing my blog idea? I found this spread on  Sorted Soul . I used the Guilded Tarot deck. I'm not sure if the artwork helped me noticed new things in the reading or if I'm just getting better at trusting my intuition. I interpreted each card for each 'meaning', then I also grouped the cards in each category to interpret. One to One Meanings 1. NOW (Present + Body): Page of Wands new beginnings, creative endeavor, new seeds, tarot blog indication? 2. BELIEFS (Past + Spirit): Nine of Pentacles might lead to a cushion financially, part of my growth 3. HISTORY (Past + Body): Ten of Cups conclusion to goal, celebration, i did it! 4. IDEALS (Past + Mind): Six of Pentacles generosit

3/23/23 - Guilded Tarot (Easy Tarot) Deck Interview

How I Got It I bought it today from Barnes and Noble while taking a 'healing' day. I didn't go into the store planning to buy anything, but after the last few days of feeling so bad (major depression episode, yikes), I wanted something fun. There were more oracle cards, but I'm not confident in working with them (yet?). I got these specifically cause of the artwork of the cards. this is Mama, who would not leave me alone the last few days she knows when i'm not in a good mental state which is why her name is Mama, lol Artwork The box is... bright. Bright and a little gaudy. I want to ignore that, along with the booklet, which is difficult to read and understand. The art, though, is bold and just a little off, in a good way! The cards were created by Ciro Marchetti . It's not my favorite visual but it's growing on me. Interview Spread I will be using these questions as I draw and interpret: What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are

3/21/23 - Five Card Relationship Spread

Found the spread on The Tarot Guide .  I asked my husband and had him shuffle the deck after I had. I wanted to include his energies, but felt it was important to ask for consent. Consent is important! My Perspective - The Star calm after the storm, hope, power of belief and positivity, heart & soul His Perspective - The Magician committing to a goal, eyes on the prize, integrity in check, masculine approach Foundations - Eight of Wands accelerated, passion, whirlwind romance Present State / Issues - Temperance (Reversed) unbalanced energy, center lost, impatience Likely Outcome - The Tower unexpected change, liberation, fresh start, storms to clear the air Introspection After reading up on the Star and Magician together, I get the sense that these two describe me and my husband really well. I tend to look at life with positivity and hope, putting my heart and soul into everything I do. My husband is a the type of person to make things happen if he thinks it's possible. I'm

3/19/23 - I Deserve Rest spread

I got this spread from backyardbanshee .  I wanted a quick spread before sleeping to get a bit of reflection before falling asleep. My anxiety is pretty bad when I'm trying to rest for the night. I did this last night and decided to check back this morning before work to really look over what the card say. I deserve rest. Show me how to enjoy more rest. Six of Wands: achievement, great triumph, optimism, pride Everything will be fine, I am at peace. Show me assurance from the universe. Two of Swords: crossroads, truce, compromise I have accomplished enough today. Show me a way to give thanks. The Sun: positivity, confidence, courage, epiphanies Tomorrow will be a great day for me. Show me something to look forward to. The Hierophant: guidance, rules & order, therapy Tomorrow has moments of joy, peace, and love. Show me how to show gratitude. Queen of Pentacles: stability, resourceful, pets, caretaking Tomorrow I will make more progress. Show me what it looks like. Five of Cups

3/19/23 - 4 Card Lesson Spread

From an idea from Theresa Reed, I wanted to continue my reading of my Celtic Spread for today by looking over the Major Arcana cards that appeared in my reading. The cards are selected by the order they were in during the Celtic Cross spread. CARD #1: Lesson THE HANGED MAN Surrender CARD #2: Current Position on Karmic Path TEMPERANCE Healing CARD #3: Direction Ahead on Karmic Path JUSTICE Personal Responsibility CARD #4, #5: Reflection THE STAR; THE FOOL Optimism; Courage Introspection I recently realized over the last few months that one of the big things I freak out about is control. I feel very overwhelmed when I feel out of control of things in my life. This lesson focused spread makes it clear that I can overcome this by surrendering. Learning to let go of control will lead to healing and help me take personal responsibility for my future. By using optimism and courage, my path in life may becoming even a little bit easier. Positive vibes to everyone! Tabitha

3/19/23 - Celtic Cross Spread

Before I start a reading, I like to reorder my deck. I do it suit by suit, then the major arcana. I shuffle each tiny stack and then shuffle them together. How do you explain the exact way the card moves through your hands? Not sure, so moving on. At the bottom of this post, I will add the photos of my written notes.   I find it easier to read someone's handwriting then a whole bunch of typed text, personally. I decided to do a Celtic Cross spread for my daily practice reading. I thought about where I am at this moment of my life and the plans I have for my move. I did a general read through with my own intuition, and then opened up No Questions Asked to look up the suggested meanings. Cards Drawn 1. The Hanged Man 2. Temperance 3. Six of Swords 4. King of Pentacles 5. Justice 6. Three of Swords 7. The Star 8. Nine of Swords 9. The Fool 10. Ten of Wands 1st Impressions 5 Major Arcanas (!) - additional spread & reading No cups - emotions are not present, could be good or bad Qu

Deck Interview: Moon & Stars Deck

How I Got It Nothing special, honestly. I wanted a deck with different art, so I found this online on sale from Barnes and Noble . I've been into the visuals of moon and stars lately, which I'll go into more as I describe the artwork. The booklet was written by Jayne Wallace , and includes affirmations for each card. I don't know much about the author, but it seems she's pretty famous in celebrity circles. Artwork That artwork for this deck is done by Hannah Davies . It's a softer type of art than my other deck, with abstract backgrounds and small details added to the major arcana cards. I like the abstract work and the small details that include constellations or astrology symbols. I bought this deck purely for the artwork and the layout of the cards, including the word displayed. Interview Spread I will be using these questions as I draw and interpret: What kind of energy do you have? What are your strengths? What are your limits? What kind of readings do you pref

Reading Style

I am not expert. I'm not even experienced. I have been interested in the idea of tarot, of using images and intuition to guide ones life, for a long time. Because of where I grew up and where I have lived, I have not had the opportunity to interact with someone who has experience with readings. That being said, I believe that anyone can read and anyone can interpret. Favorite Books: Tarot: No Questions Asked by Theresa Reed ( TheTarotLady ) Tarot For Change by Jessica Dore I also use the booklets that come with the deck, unless it's hard to read. The Cards I am a visual learner mostly, so seeing the spread and following the order of the cards is where I start. If there are more cups in the spread, maybe it the reading wants me to think about emotions. Here are some questions I ask: How many...? If there are more minor arcana cards, maybe the spread has to do with every day situations. If there are more major arcana cards, big events are being shown in the reading. If there ar
