Reading Style

I am not expert. I'm not even experienced. I have been interested in the idea of tarot, of using images and intuition to guide ones life, for a long time. Because of where I grew up and where I have lived, I have not had the opportunity to interact with someone who has experience with readings. That being said, I believe that anyone can read and anyone can interpret.

Favorite Books:

I also use the booklets that come with the deck, unless it's hard to read.

The Cards

I am a visual learner mostly, so seeing the spread and following the order of the cards is where I start. If there are more cups in the spread, maybe it the reading wants me to think about emotions. Here are some questions I ask:

How many...?

If there are more minor arcana cards, maybe the spread has to do with every day situations. If there are more major arcana cards, big events are being shown in the reading. If there are a lot of court cards, I think about people influencing the situation.

What numbers?

Lower numbers seem to represent something new starting, while higher numbers can relate to something ending. It is also a memory device for me to remember what card may be connected to what idea or situation.

The Books

As I said before I am not experienced, not as I make this post. I use books to help me interpret what I see in the spreads. I understand not everything is universal, which also helps me interpret in itself. When I read descriptions, some words or phrases may catch my attention. I find myself making lists instead of paragraphs as I read and interpret.

The Feelings

As someone who has anxiety, it's hard to trust my instincts.  After three decades of misinterpretation of my own feelings, how can I use them to read something for someone else? Or even myself? I think practice and reflection is the answer to that. I use tarot reading as guidance for learning to trust my own instincts, my own intuition.
